This cake sounds wonderful, but I do not have boiled cider on hand. I know I can purchase the boiled cider from King Arthur but I already have the fresh picked apples from our tree and don't want to wait for the time it takes to have the boiled cider delivered. Can I boil down regular apple cider myself? If so, how thick should it be to be the correct consistency for the frosting? Thanks
