I made this for Thanksgiving 2024. First let me preface this by saying I have NEVER attempted Apple Pie... Of ANY kind.. That said.. the pie was absolutely delicious save 2 things. First, there was a GIANT cavity under the top crust. My guess, after looking it up on other recipe sites, the venting of a pie is to allow the crust to fall as the apples bake. This is not mentioned in the recipe... So all the steam was trapped and created a huge gap making the top Cinnamon Crust brittle and unable to hold together when cut. Next time.. I will try venting and hopefully the pie will settle better... Second... I used the King Flour Apple filling recipe and it was not nearly wet enough. I even added some Boiled Apple Cider to the filling, but there was almost no gooiness. The apple flavor was absolutely delicious, but dry.. All in all.. Not a HORRIBLE first attempt at Apple Pie, but there is definitely room for improvement...
