Hi Diane, since this recipe is leavened with baking powder, the starter is simply for flavor so you can store the biscuits in the fridge the night before baking. You can move them from the fridge directly to the oven. Brushing the tops with milk will certainly help achieve a nice golden color, but it is not always necessary. Hope this helps!
