Hi Cindy! While the recipe doesn't call for buttermilk, Jennifer was asking about using buttermilk to thin the starter a bit as they have a stiff starter rather than a liquid (or 100% hydration) starter like what is used in the recipe. We hope this helps to clarify and happy baking!
