I have 3, 8 oz bottles of homemade vanilla that was 6 months old on 11/5/20. One was made with bourbon, one with vodka, and one with gold rum. Each bottle was given 4 split beans with seeds. They've been stored in a dark cool place and I shook them each week.

I opened them today to smell them and they all smell, primarily, like alcohol and not vanilla.

Is this correct or do you think I may have done something wrong?
