Delicious, used your recipe as a guide except for the biscuits as I am British and prefer proper Victorian sponge for my shortcake.
I was invited to dinner this week and had a whole bunch of strawberries so whipped up a traditional Victorian sponge for trifle with an extra rectangular layer to make strawberry shortcake. Not everyone loves trifle. Why?
Baking the rectangular layer a bit longer made for crunchy sides for the shortcake.
For the trifle strawberries I added a couple tablespoons of cherry brandy. Outstanding!
