Had an idea or two for the pears gifted from a neighbor. One was to do a shortbread-based bar cookie with an oat streusel sort of topping the other was a coffee cake. Could not find a bar cookie recipe so chose a F&W sour cream coffee cake. Mom never baked but occasionally she'd make a sour cream coffee cake I loved. Feeling nostalgic and not wanting to waste any pears, I went with the cake. (The bundt recipe I found seemed too big for us for this week.)

So the coffee cake recipe would not print in any format without lopping off an ingredient or two. Wasted several sheets of paper discovering that. Then realized it said "two butter" ...Asssume it meant sticks. (Why not ounces?!) Then I realized it called for pear chunks in the streusel topping. Odd.

So I made coffee cake. Subbing yogurt for sour cream; adding cardamom because it's a great friend to pears; I sliced some pears and added along with streusel in the middle; then added some chunks to the remaining streusel to top. I also did not remember that I'd tossed my 9 x 13" pan so two loaf pans with the layers seemed the way to go. Also added a bit of orange blossom water.

The loaf pans are in the oven now. The aroma is good, the cake has risen nicely...Fingers crossed.

Do you have an equivalency for loaf pans, please? I did this by eye and it seems to be working but the test will be tomorrow morning. But volume at least looks good.
