I tried salt rising bread once and, while it did rise and *look* good, it smelled like dirty gym socks and tasted like something one might scrape off the bottom of a shoe. Even the birds wouldn't eat it. Epic fail. I laugh every time I remember that adventure. Thanks for sharing your mishaps every year. They're such hilariously delightful evidence that I'm in great company with my own creative catastrophes. :)
