My favorite post of the year! In past years I’ve told about the Italian flavored Panko crumbs in the bottom of my apple pie, and the year the green layer of my Italian Rainbow cookies slid out of pan and onto the open oven door. This year’s blooper happened just the other day. I was making a loaf of Harvest Grains Bread and everything was humming along smoothly until about 3/4 of the way into the kneading time when it hit me - I FORGOT THE YEAST! Can anybody say “!@&$!?”! Well I put half the yeast in and kneaded some more, then it dawned on me that it might be better if I mixed the remaining yeast with a little water. I mixed that in, and hoped for the best, figuring I was going to get a Harvest Grains brick. The loaf took forever to rise, but rise it eventually did, and actually turned into a perfect loaf of bread. PJ always says that baking with yeast is very forgiving, and she ain’t kiddin’!
