As a young,newly married aspiring home baker, I put a pan with cake batter in the oven. Soon it began to rise and bubble out of the pan, dripping down into the oven. I turned the oven off, had a good cry then called my new husband. The man came home from work and cleaned my oven. I figured it out later, I had used self-rising flour by mistake and added baking powder,etc. Never made that mistake again. In June, we celebrate 50 years of baking adventures, some funny,some not.
