If you don't mind a little extra butter in your diet, instead of just warming your maple syrup, try making Browned Butter Maple Syrup.
All you need to do is melt a bit of unsalted butter in a small saucepan, continuing to cook it over med-low heat until the milk solids start to brown. Then pour over a good amount of maple syrup -- this will halt further browning of the butter -- and continue warming the two together. I usually go with about a 3:1 ratio of syrup to melted butter.
