I'm looking for a recipe to use for my daughter's first birthday cake. What I want to know is does this cake a have a soft and tender enough crumb for her weak little baby hands to properly smash? I've made first birthday cakes in the past and have been disappointed with the amount of mess the baby can make because the cake is too dense. If this recipe wouldn't be good for that, can you recommend one that would?
