I baked this 5 star cake and have a question and a comment. I followed the cake recipe to the letter, but my layers did not rise much at all. My frosted cake was maybe 5 inches tall. Delicious. but not as
attractive as the picture. Any suggestions? Secondly, I used hot coffee in place of the water for the frosting. It was decadent, absolutely the best icing I’ve ever made. Very deep, rich flavor. I’m going use the water next time for a milder flavor. But, without hestitation I’d recommend the coffee for coffee lovers! Perfect consistency!
