Sharon, thanks for your question! We used unsalted butter in this recipe. As a general rule, unsalted butter gives you more control over the flavor of your baked goods, as there's no standardized amount of salt in salted butters. That being said, if salted is all you have on hand, go ahead an use it! You can reduce the salt in the recipe if you like. Kat@KAF
