PJ, the unfrosted layers appear not to have straight sides in the photos. Is that a distortion due to the angle of the camera, or does one have to pack in the frosting around the seam to get the smooth vertical surface shown in the crumb layer? In the photos of the cake slices there does appear to be a difference in the icing thickness on the top and bottom layers.
