I baked it. It turned out exactly perfect. I used two 9" round pans. The cake is light and moist. Adding the scant amount of almond gave excellent flavor. The frosting is so much better than store bought (i.e. in a tub). This is the BEST version of the classic birthday cake my mom always made. We tasted a lot of box cakes. She raised 6 kids. This beats any box cake. Follow the directions. I promise it will be worth the effort.
