My mother always said it's just as easy to make a cake from scratch as from a mix, if you keep all the ingredients on hand (and she did). But although I prefer the scratch cakes, having grown up with them, I've noticed that the "mix" cakes get eaten much faster and enjoyed much more at potlucks and birthday parties.... I can hardly wait to make this one and see how the kids react. :-)
