MB, we think those four tiers would be mighty high! You could certainly double the recipe if you're not averse to a very tall cake. But instead, how about if you make the cake as directed, using two 8" x 2" round pans; then cut each layer in half around the equator to make four thinner layers. You might want to increase the frosting by about half to account for the two extra layers you'll be frosting. Enjoy — PJH@KAF
