I have made my English Toffee with dark chocolate and Toasted pecans chopped on both sides of the toffee for over 20 years. Also I make the same recipe with chopped salted almonds for someone who doesn’t like pecans. Once I put the top layer of chocolate and pecans on top I tap them down on the hot toffee with a spatula so they are married together. Then place them in the refrigerator until totally cooled. Then l place the slab of candy in a large bag and put it in the freezer until I am ready brake into pieces and package up into cans for gift giving. The grifters always return the tin cans so they a assured of a repeat gift of toffee each Christmas!
