I too have been making beer bread for years. My recipe is a little different. This is my recipe: 3 cups - Self-rising flour 1/3 cups - sugar 1 can or bottle of beer 1 stick of salted butter (melted) I mix the first 3 ingredients together and place in loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and pour melted butter all over bread and return to oven for another 15 minutes. My children would fight for the end pieces which are saturated with butter. It is best served warm. My husband puts cheddar cheese slices on a slice of the bread and broils it until melted.
