Well, I learned something new today. I didn’t know they use a lye bath when making pretzels. I have only used lye in making soap and it can pack a whollup if your not careful. I don’t think it was food grade but it would smart your nostrils to even breathe it. I wore a welders helmet and long heat resistant gloves so as not to get burnt. I can’t imagine using lye to mix with food. I have to believe it because you all are talking about doing it. Never too old to learn something new.
