Mine scorched as well, but it went from thin to black shaggy chunks in the course of a half hour, at medium heat, and in the process destroyed my enamel dutch oven!! (literally chunks of the enamel are coming off with the burnt bits - which I will take up separately with the Misen company!). So I am posting this just as a warning to other cooks - to not make this in a treasured pan.
