Today I tried cooking in my slow cooker and eleven hours later, it has reduced but not thicken very much. I don't think I will cook in my slow cooker again. I have an "antique" recipe for fruit syrup that I may use my reduced cider and just use for pancakes, ice cream, etc. I do not recommend using a slow cooker for boiled cider.
