I would like to chime in with using tapioca to thicken pies and crisps. Always made into a powder in my spice grinder. After going threw 2 boxes of reg tapioca in 10 yrs. and never made tapioca pudding, this week I found "tapioca flour" at the Indian market. 14oz. for $1.49. Plenty for a decade. I make a lot of berry pies and crisps, but have an apple and cranberry jam recipe that is a Thanksgiving must each year. Happy Baking ;-)
