I used to use the old fashioned electric ice cream maker using ice and salt. I bought an electric ice cream freezer which is SO MUCH more convenient, but using the exact same recipe, the ice cream made with the new electric freezer does not have the same taste as using the old salt and ice method. What's the difference? I much prefer the taste of the ice cream made with the old ice cream maker but it is so much more difficult.
