Hi Harriet, adding considerably more sugar to your bread/roll recipe is likely to slow down the yeast activity because sugar draws moisture away from the yeast. For this type of baking project I would encourage you to use the SAF Gold Instant Yeast, which is designed for doughs that have more than 10% sugar (by weight, as compared to the flour weight). Breads with more sugar are also likely to brown up a bit faster.
