My mother and I were in a mall, many years ago, in Williamsburg, VA and the smell of fresh bread baking drew us into a store. My mother and I were hooked. I bought my first bread machine right there and then. It used it frequently. My best friend called the store from which I bought it, and a friend of hers did, also, to buy a machine, too. We were all home made bread fanatics! As the years passed, we got busier, and bread making drew to a stop. By that time I had 2 bread machines and no time. I donated them to charity. Now, we have a pandemic, and bread is scarce. I'm now a disabled senior, with LOTS of time to cook and bake. And there are lots of people who need it. I forgot I had donated the bread machines, so I bought a new one. And I’ve switched to weighing ingredients rather than use cups, measuring spoons, etc. I’m happily using my new machine, and looking for cookbooks using weight measurements. So, last night I bought the "The King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion: The All-Purpose Baking Cookbook." I'm excited to start using its recipes for breads. Finding flour and yeast to be delivered took me DAYS and hours doing on-line searching. But, I’m ready, willing and able. And I LOVE using a scale instead of all those old measuring tools! I'm starting with sandwich breads because people need it, but I hope to branch out to more and more recipes! We need more cookbooks using weight measurements. Thank you, King Arthur, for publishing yours!
