Yeast does not like me, so a bread machine is the only way to go. Managed to reduce my mother's raisin bread recipe from 'a bag of flour [warmed on the stove in the big roaster,] 2# of raisins, 2 sticks of butter [soaked in water, and melted together in the double boiler insert, and then you add 3 packets of yeast,] etc.' to something that has passed the family taste test. It doesn't have that hand-kneaded texture, but I got the aroma, color, and flavor right. Anyone who says it isn't like Mom's will never see another slice...
