I will definitely try the cream cheese swirl for my book club. I was thinking banana bread would be too ordinary! In defense of mothers who did not teach their children to bake, my mother started out as an excellent gourmet cook but my father was not a gourmet eater and preferred ground beef, boiled potatoes, and overcooked vegetables. He soon turned her into a terrible cook with very little interest in the subject. I took baking at the Girls Club and got a lot of ribbing for my meager attempts. However now I am an avid baker and experimental cook. I am also a devoted fan of King Arthur products, emails, and lessons.
