Thanks for reaching out! Just a gel food coloring would certainly do the trick (it's quite strong, so a little goes a long way!), but if you're looking for a strawberry flavored buttercream specifically, we'd suggest running freeze dried strawberries through a food processor to make a powder and using that in your frosting. We'd worry that using syrup would through off the texture and consistency of your frosting, so using a dry option is probably a safer bet. Happy baking! Kat@KAF
