My sister, Joanne, was making a Lemon Meringue Pie for her boy friend. (1960) She forgot to add the sugar and baked the pie. Joanne discovered the mistake while cutting the pie (licking the cutting knife) and was at a loss at what she should do. Mom and Joanne came up with a plan for all of us to eat the pie at the table after the meal. We were all eating the pie and pretending it tasted very good. When He ate his piece his face went into contortions as the bitter taste built up in his mouth. We all just kept on eating the delicious Lemon pie until we all broke out laughing at the poor guy. I discovered that if I only put in half of the sugar, the pie gets very tangy and everyone who eats my lemon Meringue Pies rave at how good it is and now that is how I always make my Lemon Meringue Pies.
