Hi there, Katie! Adding a tangzhong starter to your bread shouldn't make for a bland result. You can try replacing either some or all of the water in the recipe with milk and increasing the salt a but will help too, try 1 1/2 to 1 13/4 teaspoons. We'd recommend starting out with these adjustments to see if it gets you closer to what you're looking for and if not, then move on to adjusting the honey and eggs.
