Paulette, you don't actually remove the 3 tablespoons flour and 1/2 cup milk; you simply turn them into a cooked slurry (tangzhong) before combining with the remaining ingredients. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and so glad you persevered — and now you have PLENTY of hot cross buns to share! Glad you like the recipe, and thanks for your kind words. PJH@KAF
