I had to laugh at your "pants on fire" comment, because my oven also beeps LONG before it's really pre-heated. (Yes, i tested with an oven thermometer.) I hadn't realized how often i would mumble "liar!" in response to the beep until one day, when my grandsons were here and we were baking. The oven beeped and 3 of the boys, in unison the Rockettes would envy, replied "liar!".
