Hello! Thank you so much for this baking experiment! I came across this while trying to determine if my starter was okay to revive and is making me want to try the revival. Veronica is about 2.5 years old, but left neglected in the fridge for the last few months. My trouble is there isn't the usual gray/black liquid hooch. The top of mine was solid and gray (maybe purplish? if I think too hard about it) I scraped that layer off and the starter underneath looks normal, but very thick and solid. It's not putting off any bad odors; it smells okay just a bit sharper than it should.
I'm on the fence if it's okay to try to feed it again. Any thoughts?
