Hi Michele, if you added egg, sugar, butter and baking soda to your entire quantity of starter, then you shouldn't use that as a sourdough starter (although you could make a larger quantity of pancakes). I would ask your neighbor for more of her discard if you'd like to keep and cultivate a sourdough starter. Here's our typical feeding routine for a sourdough starter.
