Hello, thanks for the great instructions and troubleshooting tips. I've been trying to get a starter going for over 3 months, and have started over a couple of times now. I have changed every variable possible, and have been following the starter guide very thoroughly. Now on this starter I've had about 3 weeks now, it gets close to doubling after 12 hours with all KA all purpose flour, but still doesn't quite get there. On a hunch, I tried a feeding with KA whole wheat flour and it more than doubled with in about 4 -5 hours. I was amazed! Then, as soon as I did the next feeding with KA all purpose flour, it went back to it's old lethargic self and doesn't even get to double the size within 12 hours again.
Should I try the once a day feedings with just whole wheat flour? Or keep going with the 2x a day feedings with KA all purpose flour? Thanks a lot for the help!
