I neglected my starter for a while when I was in the midst of babies and toddlers:) I've been worried about it for a while as it looked a little grayish at one point, but I recently decided it looked and smelled good after a few feedings and everything was fine. It just needed love and attention again! This is what I thought anyway....then a couple of days ago, I noticed a spot of orange from the side of its glass container and when I opened it, there were several bright orange spots on top. I have never seen anything like it! I feel like I need to start new, but I am also so curious as to what this is but can't find any answers online. I've stumped my sourdough friends too! I am sad because it was a gift from a dear friend a few years ago, but I also want to be safe and move on. I'd be happy to send a pic if you are curious to see!
