Hi Tawney, each time you change up the feeding routine for your starter it will take some time for it to adjust, and it may not perform at its best for a few days. As long as you're seeing some rising and bubbling I think you're on the right track and should continue on. From my calculations you have been feeding your starter one way or another for almost two weeks, so I would give it a few more days with the twice a day feedings and then do some baking! If you're anxious to use the discard (and your starter has a pleasant aroma) I think it would be fine to start baking some discard recipes right away. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
