Hi Lindsey, if you're seeing a pink spot I would start over. Be sure to clean your container well with boiling or very hot water and air dry before beginning again. The next time around try to stir the starter thoroughly every 12 hours or so, which should help. If you happen to live in a very warm part of the country, try to find a spot that is cooler for your starter to dwell (68-70°F) and/or use cool water to feed your starter.
