My starter that I started on Sunday is about 4 days old now. On day 3, the starter rose a lot, but today it was very liquidy, there was what I just out was called hooch on top, and there wasn’t any signs of rising or bubbles. I read a few articles and found out that I should feed it, not let it rest until it expands. This feeding I added more all-purpose flour that usual as well as some whole grain flour in case it needed more yeast. By adding more flower I hoped that it would thicken up and allow it to expand if the bubbles were just rising up to the surface and going away. Was that the correct thing to do in that situation? How can I make sure that, if it was bad, to not get it liquidy or something else in another situation?
