Hi Ruth, I suspect that discarding a portion of your starter is likely to be helpful and definitely warranted at this point. I would try feeding 25g each of starter, water and flour, twice a day, and see how that works for you. However, you will need a smaller jar to maintain this amount of starter; an 8-ounce canning jar or jelly jar will work well. Once your starter is doubling nicely, you can easily increase the amount of starter you are maintaining, if you desire. Check out this blog post for more information on this process.
