Hi there!
I’m a total newbie and just began my starter on Jan 9th. My feeding regimen is 1/4 cup culture, 1/4 water and 1/4 flour (mixture of WW and AP). I only feed once per day around 4pm.
Things were going amazing from day 1-6 and then on day 7 it did not rise and wasn’t bubbly at all. It was just very flat. Since the beginning, I worried about my house being too cold because it is normally around 19 degrees Celsius and even cooler at night so I stored it on my oven and kept it there while cooking etc so it could get some additional heat. Again, things were going great at first until day 4(ish). I noticed that there wasn’t much activity. Very little bubbling and very little rise. Also, the starter started to take on the smell of vomit.
On day 7 I had to feed around 3pm (not sure if that matters) and was sad to see that he still didn’t rise the next day. :( My coworker suggested, since he didn’t rise at all, to not discard but rather just feed because she thought he looked hungry (yes, I am a part of a sourdough group at work) so that’s what I did. Woke up today and again, no change!
On top of all of this, I also forgot to feed him this morning! :( So I fed him tonight at 8pm and was thinking of starter to feed twice per day.

Any insight is much appreciated!
