Hi William, a mature starter generally does pretty well in the fridge, and if your starter is rising well and has a good aroma after a few feedings at room temperature then it sounds like the tint you noticed was not the worrisome kind. However, it certainly won't hurt to give your starter 2-3 days of twice daily feedings at room temperature, which should help restore its health and resistance to outside invaders. Also, when you feed your starter and want to return it to the refrigerator, be sure to give it a few hours at room temperature to ferment before sticking it back in the refrigerator. This will help ensure that the starter continues to ferment while in the fridge.
