My sourdough starter is only a few weeks old. It was easy to start and grow. I’ve used it mainly for discard recipes. I just made my first loaves of bread using the starter. I used my regular sandwich bread recipe, just replacing the commercial yeast for my wild yeast making the proper conversions. Well, now all my family is experiencing gas and intestinal discomfort. I’m currently on a restricted diet and the sourdough bread and sourdough pancakes are the only things we’re all eating that are alike. The last time I fed my starter I saw a slight black fuzz on the inside shoulder of my jar, as in it was growing in the crusty area of the jar. Should I start over? Did we get sick from the black fuzz?
