Hi, I am a sourdough starter newbie. I made my starter in a ceramic bowl and covered with a dish towel. King Arthur All Purposed Unbleached flour in a 1:1 ratio of 120g water and flour 120g.
It was forming a hard crust on days 2/3 and I realized it was getting too much air. I then switched to plastic wrap, bubbles but no rise. However that is all I get daily is bubbles, no rise. I have tried putting my starter in the oven with the light on, bubbles but no rise despite feedings. Twice in 9 days I didn’t discard because I tend to read too many variations on the Internet of processes and have confused myself as to what instructions to follow now. Maybe that is my problem? I am anxious for my starter to take root, but at this point may just need to give up and start over. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
