Hi Kory, it's quite common for a starter that has been neglected in the refrigerator for an extended time to be very sluggish, so please don't give up on it! It may take a few days of twice a day feedings at room temperature to restore your starter's normal rising behavior and aroma, but it's definitely not dead!
