Thank you so much for your very informative response. I most certainly will be guided by all of your suggestions. However, it was almost as though that starter was playing tricks with me. The day after I posted my comment the starter floated beautifully. It certainly was not a new starter by any means. So what can I say? And it is just an ordinary all purpose white flour starter. So I’m very pleased now and will try another baking session with it. I also have a rye flour starter which is flourishing really well. Once again thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me.
