I just got fresh active starter from a friend who is a professional baker. The starter looked perfectly webbed and active. I set up some of it for a recipe and re-fed the remainder (1:1:1). The next morning (yesterday) both the set-up starter and re-fed were again webbed and healthy. My recipe turned out great and I re-fed the mother that morning. Last night (~12-14 hrs from last feeding) I went to re-feed and set-up to bake bread today and found the mother to be deflated and liquid-y. I proceeded to re-feed and set-up, however, this morning, neither the mother nor the set-up starter look active. Neither have risen much and there are only a few air bubbles. No hooch. Smells fine although more "raw" than fermented. What happened and how do I fix it?
