Hi Rachel, it's really not necessary to clean out your starter container each time you feed it, and, particularly if you're using soap to clean your container, this may introduce more contaminants to the process. It's fine to simply scrape down the sides of your container with a spatula after each feeding, and then clean the container more thoroughly with hot water on an occasional basis.
